What Is a Republic Ambassador?

A Republic Ambassador is a local supporter who helps Republic's presence grow regionally, organise local actions/protests/events, and build support in your area. You don’t need to be an expert or have experience - just committed. Being an ambassador is defined by the actions you take and help organise!

Why Ambassadors Matter

Since 2023, the activist network has grown substantially and we have seen amazing actions across the country. Republic’s campaign to abolish the monarchy depends on people like you - active, local supporters who help us grow the movement from the ground up.

Build the Movement

Ambassadors help us reach more people by organising local events and media-grabbing protests and stunts as well as encouraging supporters to get more involved.

Spread the Message

You’ll help share our vision to change the country for good with members of the public and other campaigners - challenging the monarchy’s influence on your community.

Connect and Mobilise

Ambassadors bring people together - from new supporters to local allies - and help turn interest and support into action.

What You’ll Do

As an ambassador, you'll be doing one or more of these things to support the local activism strategy!

💥Organise local protests and stunts for royal visits
🤝Connect with other organisations and movements in your area
🗣️Hold street stalls and outreach events to grow support
☕ Host socials and attend Republic events and protests as a group

Which things are not Ambassador priorities

❌ Online lobbying has its place - but local groups are most effective taking action on the ground. See our online action page if that’s your focus.
❌ Local groups are for action, not debate. Use royal news and healthy discussion to fuel activism - not preach to the converted.
❌ Ambassadors don’t speak for, or represent local members. Anyone can join a Republic-supported group, including non-members or non-supporters, as long as they follow Republic's activist values.

Digital actions may be supplementary to your local activism (writing a press release or contacting a politician highlighting your action for instance), but shouldn't be the focus. It's important that the actions of an ambassador with local groups are public-facing, even if you want to take other actions with Republic too!

What Republic Expects from Ambassadors

Being a Republic Ambassador means taking an active role in our local campaigning. We ask that ambassadors:

✅ Take part in at least 3 locally organised actions or events per year.
✅ Stay in touch with the Protest and Activism Coordinator and ambassadors by attending the monthly meeting or a 1-1 check in at least once a month.
✅ Act with Republic’s activist principles and values in mind.

I understand that life gets busy! And that's ok - but to keep the network strong and effective, I can only continue supporting ambassadors who are actively involved in Republic's campaign.

What support will I receive?

If you are actively involved as an ambassador, the Protest and Activism Coordinator will support you with:

✅ Training and workshop resources
✅ Monthly ambassador meetings and optional 1-1 check-ins
✅ Campaign materials, leaflets, factsheets and more!
✅ A network of fellow ambassadors to share ideas and support
