Police Suppression in Windsor and Outreach in London
This month’s roundup features some and big plans ahead in 2026! From standing up to police suppression in Windsor to joining others at the Budget Demo, plus exciting news about Republic Day - here’s what Republic activists have been getting up to recently.
Republic Activists join Budget Demo

On Tuesday 25th November, Republic activists from London brought out the fantastic banner made by Ed Hall and flyers to attend the small protest organised by People's Assembly on the eve of the budget. Despite the chilly weather and winter light, the speeches made many references to the so-called difficult decisions made by Rachel Reeves - something we reminded her of last year in 2024 with our Half Billion Royals campaign!
"In standing shoulder to shoulder with other concerned groups I found the experience not only worth the effort but necessary in highlighting Republic’s cause to abolish the monarchy and elect a truly democratic Head of State for the people, by the people." ~ Clovis, Republic Supporter and Volunteer.
This event tops off a year of attendance at other events for Republic's outreach this year, making lots of new connections and allies along the way.

Police Suppression in Windsor

On Wednesday 3rd December, a small Republic volunteer team planned to display a banner during the German President’s State Visit in Windsor as the Royals passed in golden carriages. When we tried to position ourselves near the media viewing area, police intervened, moving us to a pen far from the route and threatening arrest for using a megaphone, showing the banner, or even heckling Charles anywhere else in Windsor.
"If the police perceive such a small action as a threat we must have really got under their skin. It’s always a joy to meet fellow Republic members as you instantly know you are among comrades" ~ Simon, Republic Volunteer.
Despite the action not going to plan, it was reported by the BBC (on the radio too!) and elsewhere in the media, once again showing that every opportunity counts. The police overreach suggests the royals know their image and public perception is incredibly fragile following the Andrew scandal and the recently aired fairly critical documentary series by David Dimbleby (featuring Republic).
"Our mere presence at such an event shows that there is a movement out there slowly and surely gaining momentum that's not going away anytime!" ~ Surinder, Republic Volunteer.

Republic Day 2026 Launch
For the first time ever, Republic will be marching to Buckingham Palace as part of Republic Day, ending our Rally at the symbolic heart of the monarchy!
Join Republic on Trafalgar Square on the 9th May from 12.00pm to 2.00pm. Come along - you'll enjoy great music and hear amazing speeches from activists, politicians and celebrities. There will then be a march to Buckingham Palace from 2.00pm to 3.00pm.
This is gearing up to be one of Republic's biggest events of 2026, so there are loads of ways to get involved and help as a Republic volunteer and activist. Find out more by checking out the volunteer page where you can sign up to build and puppet Chuck the Rex, talk to people at one of our gazebos, or hang our gigantic banners on the gates of Buckingham Palace!
There are also plans for bigger and better rallies in Cardiff and Edinburgh again and they need your support to make them happen.
