Campaigners have again called for a wide-ranging inquiry into the royal family after fresh revelations about Andrew emerged over the weekend.
Following news that Andrew sought to use the Met police to smear Virginia Guiffre, campaigners have accused William and Charles of being complicit in a cover up.
Campaign group Republic has long said it is not credible to believe senior royals were not aware of Andrew's actions.
Speaking for Republic Graham Smith said today:
"When commentators suggest William is behind moves to push Andrew out they're simply repeating the palace line. William is desperate to put himself on the right side of the scandal."
"The reality is that William and Charles are trying to protect their privilege and status, and to keep people from asking difficult questions about their own complicity."
"At no point has this been about royal concern for the victims of Epstein or Andrew. It has been about protecting William and Charles from the damaging fallout from the scandal."
"It is not credible to believe that the Met would not have informed senior royals of Andrew's attempts to use them to smear Guiffre. There are also questions as to why the Met continues to refuse to investigate, interview or charge Andrew."
"Andrew stands accused of corruption and sexual offences. The royals would have moved heaven and earth to ensure they were aware of all the facts years ago. Yet they have sought to protect Andrew and themselves every step of the way."
"Even now the palace is being dishonest. Andrew has not lost his titles, he has faced no serious consequences for his actions."
"The palace has done the absolute minimum to protect themselves and to keep Andrew out of a court of law."
"Rather than trivial talk about not attending church or a future coronation, we need to be talking about why Andrew isn't facing criminal charges and why the royals aren't facing an inquiry."
