How does inherited power affect our ability to build a democratic, inclusive society?

What does a just world look like without monarchy?

Join us for an evening exploring how inherited power upholds inequality and entrenches injustice in society. You’ll hear from a panel of fantastic speakers from climate, animal rights, global poverty and anti-monarchy movements about how monarchy, power and privilege impact their campaigns.

The panel:

Robin Wells - Director, Fossil Free London

Robin Wells is the founding Director of Fossil Free London, an organisation she has led for over five years to be a relentless machine of creative and disruptive demonstrations. Fossil Free London stands up to both Big Oil and fossil fuel fascism, and fights for our right to protest.

Tyrone Scott - Head of Campaigns, Strategy and Impact, War on Want

Tyrone Scott is the Head of Campaigns, Strategy & Impact for War on Want, an organisation which works in the UK and with partners around the world to fight inequality and defend human rights, as part of the movement for global justice. Tyrone has over a decade of experience campaigning on social justice issues ranging from housing rights to global climate justice and has also stood as a candidate in both local and parliamentary elections.

Rose Patterson - Director, Animal Rising

Rose Patterson is the Director of Animal Rising and its network of projects. She's been an advocate for animals since 2012, holds an MSc in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics, and Law and worked for World Animal Protection before joining Animal Rising in January 2020

Graham Smith - CEO, Republic

There’ll be audience Q&As throughout, plus a dedicated bar where you can chat with the speakers and fellow attendees. The evening will be an opportunity to discuss what a post-monarchy Britain could look like for all of us, reflect on the challenges facing our movements, find allies, offer solidarity and share ideas.

This conversation has never been more important, with the monarchy more vulnerable than ever before. Abolishing the monarchy could be the catalyst for a renewed direction in tackling the many other intersectional domestic and international crises we face today.
