Ministers have been forced to seek permission from Prince Charles to pass at least a dozen government bills, according to a Guardian investigation. As Republic's campaign manager Graham Smith told journalists this morning:

"That such a loophole exists shows our constitution is fundamentally anti-democratic, but Charles's decision to exploit it betrays his utter contempt for the British people. Charles is quite capable of doing the right thing by declining to use his position for personal gain - yet he refuses to do so." "It's quite clear that he yearns for an age of feudal autocracy, believing in his God-given right to influence our government - and it seems that Ministers simply don't have the courage to stand up to him."

We've called on Clarence House and the Government to publish details of all legislation altered as a result of Charles's interference. If you're angry about Charles's influence and want to do something positive, please join Republic today - and if you're on Twitter, don't forget to tweet Clarence House asking them when they'll be revealing which bills Charles has had altered. They're being unusually quiet today.
