The Royals are coming to Edinburgh - Join the Protest!

On Wednesday 1st July, Charles and the royals will be taking part in the Order of the Thistle ceremony, a nepotistic and outdated waste of money, reinforcing the privilege afforded to the elite aristocracy chosen by Charles.

This is another opportunity to challenge the royals on what they knew about Andrew

With the latest news on Charles "self-declaring" his taxes, it's clear they're running scared from their collapsing support.

This lack of support is even stronger in Scotland, consistently polling above 50% wanting to abolish the monarchy!

Location

The Republic Team will be there from 9.30am on Lawnmarket where it meets with St Giles' St. Charles and the other royals are expected to pass our location at 10.30-11.00am.

Republic's protests are good-natured and a lot of fun. Come and join people from around the UK to protest against the monarchy, to challenge the royals and to tell the world: we're not a nation of royalists.

Republic's volunteers and attendees really do make all the difference to the success of our events and protests. If you'd like to get involved more at the Royal Week protest supporting the team then make sure to sign up as a volunteer. There's a role for everyone, regardless of experience.

This is a great way to meet Republic's supporters and members and an opportunity to turn your anger into action.

This is what people are saying about Republic protests!

Thanks for organising. I went by myself, didn't know anyone. It was really well organised . Obviously the organisers didn't have time to make a point of talking to everyone who turned up but it was really easy to join in. Two trollies full of placards to help ourselves to. Bigger banners unfurled by organisers. I was made to feel really welcome , plenty of people happy to talk and Graham and George were very accessible to ask questions of about the procedure of the day. Also the huge dinosaur was impressive and a great symbol , quite noticeable. A Tyrannosaurus Rex named Chuck The Rex . Quite humourous and suitably belongs in a museum. Anyone wanting to go should not feel out or place.
It was great being with so many interesting people and sharing our thoughts. It made me feel part of the campaign.
I enjoyed talking to other people who felt the same way as me.
I enjoyed doing something for a cause with like-minded people. Good organisation of the protest and coordination of volunteers.
There was a real sense of community - I came alone but felt very welcomed by all!
I enjoyed meeting other Republic members, feeling part of a movement. I was also pleased that the protest was mentioned in the BBC website report of the event.
It was great to hear encouragement from tourists who were anti-monarchy. It's always good to meet up with Republic members I have met before, and those I haven't!
