Can the monarchy survive the end of the Queen's reign?

Welcome back!

Tickets now available for  the 2022 Members' Day, and we're looking forward to seeing you in person.

This is a members event. If you're not currently a member, you can join for as little as £3 a month.

More guest speakers and agenda details to be announced over the coming weeks.

Jenny Hocking: What's going on in Australia?

Professor Jenny Hocking is a leading expert on Australia's constitution and its relationship with the monarchy, and campaigned for ten years to secure the release of letters between the Governor General and the Queen.

Jenny will speak about what's been happening with the push for a republic since the election of the pro-republic Labor government earlier this year, and revelations concerning the former PM Scott Morrison.

Bram van Montfoort, The Dutch republican movement

Bram is the campaign manager for Republiek, Republic's counterpart in the Netherlands and member of the Alliance of European Republican Movements.

Bram will talk about the campaign and falling support for the monarchy, including news of a legal challenge the campaign has launched against the king's legal privileges.

Rosalea Hamilton. Monarchy and the Caribbean

Rosalea Hamilton

Dr Rosalea Hamilton is a Jamaican academic, radio host and advocate.

In December 2021 Rosalea welcomed Barbados becoming a republic as "an important step in the unfinished business of decolonisation".

Arguing that Jamaica should follow suit, she also called for constitutional change to "strengthen the voice of the people" against centralization of power in the hands of the Prime Minister of Jamaica.

In 2022 Hamilton was an organiser and co-signatory of an open letter on behalf of the Advocates Network, calling for the British monarchy to apologise for colonialism and pay slavery reparations. The letter coincided with protests at the visit of Prince William and Kate Middleton to Jamaica.

Norman Baker: And What Do You Do?

Former government minister Norman Baker will be speaking on his popular book, And What Do You Do?

You'll also hear from other speakers, including our CEO, Graham Smith, about the looming succession, the campaigns Republic has been running over the past two years and the falling support for the monarchy.

Tickets now available! Keep the date in your diary.

The Members' Day also includes the Annual General Meeting.

The deadline for nominations and motions has passed.

Details of the agenda will be made available nearer the time.
