Britain’s largest anti-Monarchy organisation, Republic, is set to rally thousands of republicans in Trafalgar Square next year. The event will be on May 4th, the anniversary weekend of the coronation.

Republic has enjoyed huge growth since the coronation in May, while polls are showing falling support for the monarchy.

Speaking for Republic, Graham Smith said today:

"2023 is the year everything changed. To celebrate that change - and our determination to win this campaign - May 4th next year will be the first national Republic Day, featuring a major event in Trafalgar Square.

"This will be the first anniversary weekend of the coronation, the arrests and a moment that shifted the debate about the monarchy's future."

"The coronation thrust republicanism into the British mainstream, so we’ll be back out protesting on Trafalgar Square, rallying thousands of republicans in the capital and around the country."

"Republic will be revealing more information about Republic Day in the coming months, including speakers and related actions."

"Republic's next planned protest will be at the State Opening of Parliament in Westminster, on the 7th November."
