The monarchy is in trouble, and Republic's campaign is growing stronger all the time. Protesting at all the key royal events challenges the image of a nation of royalists. Polls show we're a nation that doesn't care much about the monarchy, while support for abolition is higher than ever.
The people of the Commonwealth want to see the back of them too.
So, join us at Westminster Abbey, where the royals will be making an appearance for the Commonwealth Day service.
Together, we can change the country for good.
Location
The best vantage spot of Westminster Abbey is United Nations Green, situated directly across from the church.
Timings
The protest officially starts at 12.00pm, with Royals expected to turn up a couple of hours later. The Republic team and volunteers will be setting up from 11:00am onwards, so, if you can, turn up from then to help get our protest underway!
Travel
There are multiple tube stations that protestors can use to get to the area on the day, such as:
- St James’ Park (0.2mi away, 4 min walk)
- Westminster (0.2mi away, 6 min walk)
- Victoria (0.6mi away, 13 min walk)
Want to volunteer at the Commonwealth Day Protest?
Our volunteers had a fantastic time at our Commonwealth Day Protest in 2024, getting to know and work with other Republic members and activists.
There is a role for everyone at Republic's protests and events, so if you are interested check out our Commonwealth Day Protest Volunteer page below!
