Help us bring Chuck the Rex to life! 

Chuck the Rex was designed and built by the team at Peoples Protest Prop collective specially for Republic Day in 2024. He will be featuring at more Republic events and protests up and down the country this year and beyond! 

Republic want to train volunteers to assemble, animate and disassemble Chuck, so that he can be a consistent part of our campaigning!

How can I help? 

Chuck was designed to be packed away and assembled in easy to put together sections by volunteers with minimal tools. 

Republic will be running training sessions for you to learn how to build, move and disassemble Chuck so that he can appear at our events. 

What skills/experience do I need?  

No specialist skills or prior construction experience required!

Please bear in mind though that assembling Chuck requires manual labour such as lifting and fixing bamboo and plywood sections and lifting a metal A-Frame, so a basic level of fitness is required. 

Where will the training sessions be held?

The training sessions will be held at a location in central Reading. After signing up to the volunteer role you will be sent more information about where the training sessions will be held. 

When will the training sessions be?

The first training session will be on Saturday 15th February. 

There will be another training session in March with the date to be announced in due course. 

How long will the training sessions be? 

The Republic training sessions will be from 10-5pm with a lunch break.
