Charles being heckled over the Andrew scandal is a sign of things to come, campaign group Republic has said.

During a visit to Lichfield today, Charles was heckled, with a bystander asking him if he’s covered up for Andrew and if he wanted MPs to debate the issue.

Speaking for Republic, Graham Smith said today:

“We fully support the heckling of Charles.”

“The royals need to be challenged, and if the politicians won’t do the job and the police won’t investigate, then more and more members of the public will be asking the tough questions.”

“We want to see broadcasters invite Charles into a studio and ask him the same questions.”

“There is palpable public anger about the royals. A recent poll shows a big majority believe they knew what was going on and want an inquiry into the cover-up.”

“Clearly, such serious accusations of criminality cannot be dealt with by moving to a different house or switching to a different royal title.”

“If the royals aren’t properly challenged, the public will increasingly voice their anger wherever the royals go.”
