King Charles was confronted by a noisy anti-monarchy protest in Cardiff today as he attended the opening of the Senedd.

Protestors greeted Charles with a large banner reading 'Abolish the Monarchy' and placards showing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the late Virginia Giuffre.

Organised by the anti-monarchy group Republic, this was the first protest since a court ruled on the legality of search warrants used during Andrew's arrest.

Republic have called for the investigation into Andrew to continue unimpeded and for a full enquiry to be held into what Charles and William knew and when.

Republic's initial police report led to the arrest of Andrew earlier this year.

Speaking for Republic, Graham Smith commented:

"Charles shouldn't be rocking up to the Senedd, Scottish Parliament or the House of Commons. He's an unelected head of state who should have no place in our political institutions."

"Andrew is trying to obstruct the police investigation into serious allegations. Charles clearly has questions to answer about what he knew about these allegations and for how long."

"Andrew has been accused of various offences for years. For years the police, government and the royals turned a blind eye to protect him from scrutiny."

"Republic's position remains clear - police must follow the evidence wherever it leads and continue their investigation."

"Wales doesn't need a Prince. Britain doesn't need a King. What we need are answers to some straightforward questions and justice for victims of serious crimes."

"Charles and William, what did you know about Andrew?"
