Joel is a rewilding campaigner, writer and strategist known as the co-founder of Wild Card, the grassroots movement campaigning for the UK's biggest landowners to rewild their estates. From 2021 onwards he led a successful campaign fronted by Chris Packham and backed by over 100,000 citizens challenging the royal landholdings to begin nature restoration on their vast expanses of land. Beaver introductions, river rewilding and rainforest restoration followed - but meaningful democracy over these feudal landholdings did not.

As an internationally renowned environmental campaigner Joel has run winning campaigns on gene editing, nuclear power and alternative proteins and changed policy at European Union and UN levels. As a commentator Joel has contributed to The Guardian, The Ecologist, The Times, Euractiv, BBC Radio 4 and more.
