What a start to the year! 🎉

January and February were packed with actions, leading to a huge win for Republic and a significant blow delivered to the monarchy's popularity following Andrew's arrest. Republic's activist network played a big part in getting this win. Check out the latest updates from the local activist network this year with actions in Stirling, Dedham, London and Clitheroe. All this with more outreach across Yorkshire too.

This is a significant moment to get involved, so if you haven't already, make sure to get involved with Republic's local activist network by joining a local group!

William heckled for the first time in Scotland

📽 Check out the video of the heckle! 📽

On Tuesday 20th January, William was heckled by two members of the public whilst he was outside The Goth pub in Fallin, just outside of Stirling about what he knew about Andrew's relationship with Epstein.

"From a position across the street, we simply shouted 2 questions about their knowledge of and silence on Andrew’s activities." ~ Dougie, Republic supporter and heckler.

The hecklers were asking the very important questions that fawning journalists were not.

"...after comical threats by the Police of being charged with a breach of the peace we were free to leave and watch as the story of asking a Royal simple question spread around the world." ~ Gary, Republic supporter and heckler.

The heckles were widely reported, and this was one of the first times William had been approached on this issue. Since this action, William and Kate put out a measly statement of little value regarding the victims, with William being heckled once again by journalists on his visit to Saudi Arabia and again in Cornwall (more on that in the next activism roundup!).

Charles Under Pressure by Heckles and Stunt

📽 Watch the video of the stunt! 📽

On Wednesday 4th February, Republic activists unfurled a banner reading "Charles, what are you hiding?" with crime scene tape draped on the railings behind. This stunt was then followed by two heckles in Dedham and Clitheroe.

"I would like to think my action set the ball rolling and encouraged others to challenge Charles and begin the process of exposing a history complicity and wrongdoing within the royal family." ~  Richard, Republic Ambassador and heckler.

These heckles and stunt have now been seen by millions across social media, news articles and the radio and continue to be included in further media coverage of the developing story following Andrew's arrest.

"It seems that even a supposedly ex-royal can evade justice despite clear evidence of serious crime and such a laughable defence." ~ Adrian, Republic supporter and Heckler.

This is why organising local reactive actions are pivotal to Republic succeeding with our mission.

Outreach in Yorkshire

On Saturday 7th February, Republic Yorkshire leafleted in both Bradford and York, reaching lots of members of the public and attracting new supporters to Republic. It is not just about new supporters, but this is also a very crucial time to be out on the streets and visible.

Get involved with Republic's Activism!

Amazing work once again from activists in the last month. With the Andrew story showing no sign of going away, and public opinion dropping to an all time low once more, now is the time to act.

A massive thank you to our members who make all of the above possible, and of course the fantastic activists featured in this months Activism Roundup.

See you on the streets!
