Republic is recruiting! Join the staff team...

25 February 2015

Republic is recruiting a new member of staff, to support our membership and local campaign programmes and to work on our day-to-day campaigns work.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in the republican movement, becoming a key member of Republic's small but dedicated team of employees and a central part of our campaign team.

Campaigns Officer

3 days a week - initial 12 month contract.

£23,000 pro rata

Position to start at the earliest opportunity.

This is your opportunity to play a key role in the campaign for a democratic alternative to the monarchy.

In this role you will be working on the day-to-day campaigns, producing promotional emails and social media content, supporting local campaigners and supporting our membership programme, including dealing with member enquiries.

The role is key to the successful delivery of Republic’s day-to-day campaign work and the development of campaign projects.  This includes but isn’t limited to communications, social media, event organising, campaign planning and supporter administration.

Republic has a small staff team, so you will be at the heart of our campaign.  You'll work closely with our current campaigns officer and our CEO in delivering our campaign projects and driving up membership and local activism.

The successful applicant will have professional campaigns experience, knowledge and experience of campaign communications, including emails and social media and an enthusiastic approach to working with volunteers and activists from diverse backgrounds.  Familiarity with websites and database management and an ability to self-manage will also be important.  You will need to be good at handling deadlines and time pressures.

The role will include, among other things:

  • Providing campaign and logistical support to local campaigners
  • Supporting Republic’s membership and supporter processes and recruitment/retention programmes
  • Supporting Republic’s main campaign communications through email and social media
  • Organising Republic’s key national events
  • Ensuring campaign tactics are evidence-based and focused on delivering the outcomes determined by Republic’s current strategy and campaign plans
  • Supporting the CEO in the delivery of fundraising, media and lobbying work

The focus of the role will be on supporting our membership and local campaigning programmes.  This will include routine administration and answering enquiries as well as more creative front-line campaign work.  Republic has ambitious targets for expanding its membership base and local campaigns network and this role is key to achieving those targets.

You will primarily work from home as part of a small team of staff and volunteers, although there will also be a lot of opportunity to travel around the UK in support of local campaigns.  Republic is currently looking at securing office space in London so there may be a need to work from the office in the future.

Depending on the successful candidate the role may expand to include other elements of campaigning and there maybe opportunities for extending the hours of the role.
