There's a lot of nonsense talked about the royals and the monarchy in the press, and quite a bit said by the royal household. Republic takes a more serious look at the facts and figures and repeatedly raises the real issues in the media.

• Yes, parliamentary republics work, and work much better than monarchies.
• Yes, we can do a good job of electing our head of state. We should be participants in deciding who that will be, not spectators being told to sit back and accept Charles.
• Yes, this can be achieved in your lifetime. And probably sooner than we might expect. A republic is inevitable, the question is when.
• No, the Queen isn't neutral and 'above politics'. She's there to do what she's told by the prime minister.
