Republic is a membership-based pressure group calling for the monarchy to be replaced with an elected head of state and for the adoption of a new republican constitution. We represent Britain's estimated 10-12m republicans, promoting the cause and also defending the rights of republicans to be heard.
Our mission statement is simply put:
"To achieve the abolition of the British monarchy in favour of a democratic republic."
Republic is a non-party-political organisation with members from all mainstream political parties and none. We are a democratic organisation governed by an elected board of directors.
Republic is principally funded by our supporters and members, people like you who share our belief in the need for change.
Our campaign is under-pinned by our statement of principles, committing us to universal values of democracy and equality.
