Fundraising
Republic has announced a major new fundraising drive in an effort to exploit historic opportunities to secure support.
As Charles gets ever closer to becoming King, at a time when Australia and New Zealand begin to talk about ditching the monarchy, Republic believes the time is ripe to press ahead with a major campaign to abolish the monarchy.
The "Best for Britain" fundraising campaign is aimed at boosting Republic's chances of success.
As a campaigning pressure group, Republic counts on the financial support of committed republicans like you to continue making an impact - so by donating today you really can bring Britain closer to a true democracy.
We've made it easy for you.
Every donation of £10 or above entitles you to a year's membership of Republic, so you can:
| keep informed through our quarterly glossy magazine 'Imagine', featuring debate, analysis and all the latest campaign news
|
| keep up-to-date through our monthly members' e-newsletter, featuring news roundups, competitions and events listings
|
| meet likeminded people and engage with high profile speakers at special members' events, including our Annual and Spring Conferences
|
| tell the world you're proud to be a republican with our exclusive Welcome Pack, featuring membership card, fridge magnet and car sticker.
|
What your donation could achieve
Influence does not come free, but the good news is that your gift really will make a difference. Here are some examples of the activities your donation could support:
| £25 keeps Republic's website hosted, maintained and updated for a week, providing up-to-date information on Republic to thousands of visitors, including many journalists
|
| £75 enables Republic to produce 100 A4 posters, reaching hundreds of potential supporters
|
| £150 pays for a mailing to all MPs in the House of Commons, bringing the views of republicans like you directly to our elected representatives
|
| £250 produces 2,000 leaflets, to be distributed at conferences, talks and events
|
| £500 supports our lobbying and media work for a week, building support among politicians, journalists and other opinion-formers
|
| £750 buys a full page advert in a political magazine, reaching tens of thousands of highly-focused readers
|
| £1,500 buys a quarter page advert in a national newspaper, reaching hundreds of thousands of supporters
|
| £5,000 supports the cost of delivering Republic's schools programme for a full year, bringing our message to the next generation of activists and campaigners
|
Planning for the future
Of course, your support will also enable us to build up our campaign fund for longer-term investment. Your donation will help Republic to develop our infrastructure and expand our lobbying work. With your help, we can reach the level of resources that will enable us to:
| establish a permanent London office from which to co-ordinate our lobbying and media work, hold meetings and interviews, and to provide a base for volunteers and interns
|
| take on specialist communications and membership staff, as well as much-needed administrative support
|
| launch a new project, Republic 2025, developed by marketing and PR professionals to kick start an unprecedented national debate on the future of the monarchy. |

Message from the Chair
Dear supporter
Thank you for your interest in Republic and for taking the time to find out more about us.
As I hope you have seen by browsing our website, Republic's campaign is not about personalities that come and go. It is about principles and values - democracy, equality and justice.
As a campaigning pressure group we rely solely on the support of individuals who, like you, share our aims and aspirations. Thanks to those individuals, we have made great strides in the last few years. We have grown from a small group of like-minded campaigners to an effective and highly organised pressure group with a national media presence.
Thousands of republicans from across the country have already donated to our campaign fund, enabling us to grow considerably, but we need much more if we are to achieve our aims. This is a unique opportunity to help push forward historic change, so please
make a donation today if you can. Even the smallest contribution makes a big difference to what we can achieve.
If you are convinced that Britain deserves better than this outdated system of power and privilege, then I hope you will show your commitment by
making a donation today.
All the best
John Campbell Executive Chair of Republic
