Republic’s Comment and Analysis page was set up in July 2008 to provide a space for debate about the issues of republicanism, monarchy and wider constitutional reform.
Posts will usually come from Republic’s staff and volunteers – so do get involved in the debate and, if you’re keen to contribute to the campaign, there may be opportunities to post as a Guest Blogger.
Guest Bloggers are often invited to contribute articles to Republic Comment and Analysis. If you’d like to contribute a post please get in touch with Graham at g.smith@republic.org.uk.

Comments and Moderation Policy
We do not moderate comments on this blog before they are published (although some comments will be automatically held for moderation if they contain certain words or too many links, to protect the site from spam). We wish to encourage lively and engaging debate on these pages and of course we welcome the views and contributions of those who oppose us as well as those who support us, or indeed, from those who are undecided. However, we may delete certain comments if they are in contravention of our ‘Comments and Moderation Policy’.
We will delete any comments that are:
- misogynist, racist, homophobic, xenophobic or similarly offensive to readers
- direct personal attacks on bloggers, commentators or members of Republic
- persistently off-topic
- from trolls who are attempting to disrupt the debate
- posted under multiple aliases (yes, we can tell if you use more than one name)
We will endeavour to be tolerant of all posts and to enforce our moderation policy only if absolutely necessary. We are committed to promoting free and open debate and we respect the right of our contributors to be able to engage in that debate. We ask that you do the same.
Comments on all blog posts automatically close after 14 days.
