According to today’s Sunday Mail, Prince Andrew has been offering Royal Bank of Scotland bosses his advice on the current economic downturn.
The report states that Andrew was recently treated to a lavish dinner by Drummonds, an RBS-owned private bank that was apparently favoured by the Queen Mother. It seems Andrew imparted all sorts of valuable advice gleaned from his role as Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.
The Sunday Mail quotes ‘a source’ as saying:
The bank is a financial basket case and its former bosses have left in shame.
Quite what a member of the royal family, best known for freeloading and playing golf, can do to help is anyone’s guess.
If Andrew’s services are so in demand, he won’t mind us taking a look at that report will he?

I’m just glad I don’t bank with RBS.

Prince Andrew is about as qualified to give advice on banking as I am on breast implants. Surely a better source of advice can be sought. Besides which, Who paid for this lavish dinner? – the Great British public as tax payers and shareholders in RBS! As if the Royals don’t cost us enough already. As for the title “Special Representative for International Trade and Investment”, who on earth gave him THAT title?

I do not believe anyone in a healthy society needs an excess of wealth, and part of my republican view is the need for a high degree of taxation of royalty,(and aristocrats, and overpaid celebrities etc.) The point is that,(rather like the inability of anyone to sleep in more than one bed at the same time or live in more than one house),nobody really needs excessive wealth. This does not mean that everyone should have exactly the same. However there is something disgusting and immoral about royalty possessing a vast amount of wealth. The gap is widening apparently, between the haves and the have nots. My ideas make me something of a”Leveller”,as I understand it. Why does monarchy need so many residences?. This is even more immoral today when so many hardworking, honest citizens are losing their homes through no fault of their own. I remember seeing prince Charles talking about the late queen mother after she had passed away, and he referred to “her houses”. This seemed so wrong, when there are so many in the world without homes at all. In any case, the queen and others cannot spend all their wealth, and a lot would be wasted on un-necessary luxury. The queen could not just go and” toddle off” down the shops and buy things like you and I anyway. My view has nothing to do with envy,-it is just a reaction to plain un-necessary GREED.

Incidently, when the “queen mother” died, no death duties were paid on “her houses.”

This is just hilarious.
So what advice was he giving them? “Don’t worry guys, just get yourself a boat full of bimbos in Monaco and everything will seem OK.”
