Republic's Board of Directors is elected by the membership and our current Board comes from a range of backgrounds.

John Campbell, our Executive Chair, has been a member of Republic since 1998 and a member of Executive Committee and Board* since 2002. He was a veterinary surgeon in private practice for 15 years, then MAFF/Defra for 24 years, and is now a veterinary consultant and partner in a firm of Independent Financial Advisors.

Charles Brooker (Vice-Chair) had a career in the Trust Company of a major clearing bank, where he retired as a manager. He has been a member of a local authority and an active member of the Scout Association over many years.

John Tarrington (Treasurer) joined Republic three years ago and became a Director in 2006. John is a qualified economist and accountant and recently retired after a long career within several international and UK organizations in financial management and corporate governance.

Other directors have backgrounds in business, finance, academia, IT and political campaigning. They also represent the full spectrum of political opinion and social background and ages range from mid-twenties to early seventies.

Graham Smith is Republic's Campaign Manager and Executive Officer, and has worked full-time for the organisation since mid-2005. Graham's background is in party political campaigning and the corporate sector. He has held the post of Campaign Manager since mid 2005.

*Republic's governing body used to be the Executive Committee (EC). In July 2006 Republic became a not-for-profit limited company and the EC was replaced with the Board of Directors.
