Republic Scotland
About Republic Scotland
Republic Scotland was established in April 2008 as a part of the wider UK republican movement.
Following a series of meetings in Glasgow and Edinburgh we have now established the beginnings of a new campaigning network. The network's mission is to promote the cause and generate support for our right to elect our Head of State.
Republic Scotland has no formal view on the question of Scottish independence, we simply believe that all Scots, indeed, all people in Britain, should have the right to elect their Head of State. Whether that is one Head of State or two is a separate question and a different debate.
Republic Scotland is a non-partisan campaigning organisation. We welcome the support of all those who agree with our aims and principles, regardless of where you might sit on the political spectrum.
What we do
Republic Scotland is a very new campaign network and so is just getting underway with its campaigning work.
We will be lobbying MPs and MSPs for their support, seeking ways to gain media attention for our cause and organising a variety of events.
The Republic Scotland team is made up entirely of volunteers. We welcome the active support of all our members, so if you can help the campaign please get in touch.
Republic Scotland will be working closely with Republic and will be collaborating on a number of campaigns.
What you can do
We're just getting started, so there are all sorts of ways you can help with the campaign. We want to work with the media, campaign online, organise communnity based events, visit schools and lobby politicians.
If you want to get involved get in touch by sending an email to
enquiries@republic.org.uk.
Republic Scotland's own website will be re-launched shortly.
