What we do

Republic is a campaigning pressure group. Everything we do is aimed at persuading ordinary people - and our politicians - to support a republican constitution in place of the monarchy.
We undertake a range of activities on behalf of our supporters, ensuring the views of republicans are heard. These activities include lobbying politicians, representing republicans in the media, speaking in schools and inviting eminent republicans to back our campaign. And we work hard to fully engage with republicans around the country, encouraging you to be a part of this movement for change.
As with most modern campaign groups, much of our activity is based online. Our supporters communicate with us and each other through Facebook, Twitter, the Republic Blog and Republic TV. We also run regular email campaigns and mobilise rapid action through our Urgent Response Network.
As well as pursuing our overall aim of replacing the monarchy with an elected head of state, we also undertake smaller campaigns on specific issues. Such campaigns often give us the chance to work with other groups and organisations, enabling us to share knowledge and expertise.
We work to a long-term strategy with clear targets and milestones. The current focus of our campaign is mobilising Britain's republicans to get actively involved in our campaign by joining, donating or taking action.
There are some historic opportunities just around the corner: a referendum in Australia, a looming succession here (and mounting hostility to the prospect of a future King Charles), as well as growing talk of constitutional reform.
By making the most of these opportunities, Republic can galvanise Britain's 10 million republicans and ensure that the future of the monarchy becomes the subject of national debate.
