Events around the UK

We want to make sure republicans in every part of Britain can show their support for our campaign by attending an alternative royal wedding event.

We are pleased to announce the following events in Edinburgh and Manchester, which like our central London events are being organised by volunteers. There are also details of two plays in Cardiff and South Shields.

You can also download our 'Not the Royal Wedding' DIY pack. This pack is intended for anyone who is unable to attend any of our public events, but who still wants to show their commitment to a more democratic future for Britain on the royal wedding bank holiday weekend. We are urging anyone in this position to hold their own 'Not the Royal Wedding' party at home - a fun way for republicans to show their opposition to the monarchy. See the pack for further details.

General enquires about the "Not the Royal Wedding" DIY pack, and the events in Manchester and Edinburgh should be sent to sophie@republic.org.uk Remember - all our events, even those in central London, are being organised by volunteers.

Manchester "Not the Royal Wedding" Party

Salutation pub, 12 Higher Chatham Street, Manchester, M15 6ED.

Manchester will be having its own "Not the Royal Wedding" party at the Salutation pub, in the heart of the Manchester Metropolitan University district. Join fellow republicans for a drink or two at this popular, friendly pub and celebrate people power, rather than inherited privilege, on the day of the royal wedding! We will raise our glasses to toast the future republic, and a buffet will be on offer.

The event will be held between 4pm and 9pm on Friday 29th April. The Salutation is situated 2 miles from Manchester Piccadilly Station, just off Oxford Road.

Please contact Mervyn Drage for further information - phone: 0161 684 7733, email: m.d342@btinternet.com.
