Stop the Civil List Hike

The Civil List, which represents a small fraction of th annual cost of the monarchy, is up for review.

Parliament is required to review the payments and make a decision on any increases by July.

As Britain continues to struggle with a mounting public debt and the threat of continued recession the Queen is reportedly lobbying ministers for a multi-million pound increase in her annual payments.

Republic will be launching a campaign to stop this cash-grab from happening. We will be calling on parliament to:

1. impose a freeze on all royal spending;
2. bring all royal spending under the management of a single government department;
3. launch an immediate inquiry into royal spending, with a view to slashing the annual cost.
