FEATURING THE LAUNCH OF
REPUBLIC'S NEW BOOKLET
"HOW TO WIN THE ARGUMENT"
We've never heard a good argument against a republic. To prove it, Republic is to launch How to win the argument at this year's Annual Conference. This is a new booklet setting out our responses to all the key arguments used by royalists.
This exciting new publication will soon be available to buy online - you can get your copy for just £3 at Republic's 2008 Annual Conference.
Winning the argument
How to win the argument is the theme of the 2008 Republic Annual Conference. During the conference we will debate the two sides of this coin - what arguments to use and how to get our message out to the wider public.
Republic's campaign staff will update the conference on Republic's successes over the previous twelve months, including increased media exposure and the launch of the new Republic Schools Programme. We'll be looking at the question of proactive and reactive campaigning and reporting on work that is continuing toward the launch of Republic 2025. You'll also hear about work being done to expand our resources and build a bigger, stronger campaigning team.
The launch of Republic's new campaigning booklet, How to win the argument, will be followed by a debate about the arguments for and against the monarchy. Members will have the opportunity to raise questions about the arguments we deploy in the course of the campaign and put forward their own suggestions for inclusion in future editions of the booklet.
Winning the argument in Scotland
Republic Scotland coordinator, Barry Mcculloch, will be delivering a speech on republicanism in the context of the Scottish nationalist debate, and will report on the formal launch of Republic Scotland which is due to take place prior to the conference.
Winning the argument online
Graham Smith will take the conference on a tour of Republic's online presence and talk about the importance of campaigning tools such as
Facebook and
blogging.
